Go Chemmy!
N.Peal have been delighted to sponsor Chemmy for the past 2 years and we are absolutely thrilled to see her appearing on ‘Dancing on Ice’. Chemmy is an unbelievably positive and energetic individual who deserves every possible success in her career and we very much hope you will join us in supporting her. For those who don’t appreciate her story the following is a short summary.
Chemmy has been Britain’s No.1 Skier for a record 7 years, she has been the only female representative at the World Championships and is still ranked 8th in the World. N.Peal became involved because Chemmy was receiving no financial support from the UK government – a disgraceful state of affairs – that fact alone ensured our support. In December 2010 Chemmy suffered a truly horrific fall during a downhill race that shattered her leg in two places and which seriously questioned whether she would ever ski again. It was a devastating blow for someone that had dedicated their entire life to winning a Gold medal at the next Winter Olympics’. But true to form Chemmy has shown unbelievable resilience, positive attitude and determination in returning to health. For the past 12 months you could have found her hopping off the early morning tube at Piccadilly, on crutches for the first 6 months, and spending the entire day at the gym ever so slowly and painfully building her fitness through exercise, physio, yoga, Pilates and even altitude oxygen tanks. It is truly incredible to see the person so literally shattered at the beginning of 2011 skating so brilliantly now on our television screens. Well done Chemmy!
Her ambition is still to win Gold at the next Olympics and she was very recently in Courchevel for a boot fitting with the aim of seriously competing again later this year. That alone would be an achievement but however her career develops we know it will be at speeds close to 90 miles an hour! We wish her the very best of luck.
